DE (Diatomaceous Earth), a natural dewormer, contains 14 trace elements. It is also non-toxic and biodegradable. DE uses a mechanical rather than a chemical action, so subsequent generations of insects cannot become resistant to its effects.

DE comes from diatoms, dead sea life. There are more than 1,500 species of diatoms, each with its own skeletal shape. Most look like snow flakes; while some are tubular and others conical. The shape is very important in its effectiveness. The exact composition of DE depends upon the area in which the diatoms lived and died.

Most DE contains silicon, sodium, aluminum, manganese, boron, magnesium, iron, calcium, and copper.
